The city of Bex

From the banks of the Rhone to the peaks of the Diablerets, the municipal surface area – the third largest in the canton of Vaud – features a variety of landscapes and a palette of colours each more dazzling than the next.
With vines growing in a gypseous soil, the Bex wine producing district produces a characteristic vintage whose reputation extends well beyond the town borders. The microclimate enjoyed by the area also allows the extensive exploitation of chestnut forests. If you add to all these assets the numerous natural springs that today provide our regional network with exceptionally high-quality drinking water, and if you take into consideration the operation of a mine that supplies salt to the entire population of the canton, you will have quickly perceived the diversity and the value of our resources.

But Bex is much more than that. And to appreciate all the nuances of the city, you have to leave the beaten path and go beyond the highway intersections. Since the village is nestled several hundred metres from there, at the foot of the Montet hill sheltered from the winds, it is located, basically, at the meeting point of the two valleys of the Avançon de Nant and the Avançon d’Anzeindaz. Whether it be Pont-de-Nant or Solalex, both of these magnificent sites offer a splendid and welcoming natural beauty, which provides a peaceful haven of renewal for a large number of visitors.
The diversity evoked above is also reflected in the inhabitants of the town. Their enthusiastic activities as members of various sports, choral or music groups and clubs confirm the real pleasure they derive from living in Bex. And to offer further proof of their vitality, they organise major events, such as the Bex Air Show or the once every three years “Bex & Art” exhibition of contemporary monumental sculptures of national importance, in a sumptuous natural setting.
