Swiss holiday resorts which are especially suitable for family holidays, with a range of services geared specifically to the needs and wishes of children, their parents and accompanying adults, have been able to apply for the "Families Welcome" label since 1996.

For this purpose, they must meet a variety of conditions and criteria which have been drawn up by an independent Quality Committee chaired by the Swiss Tourism Federation (STF).

The mandatory criteria include minimum requirements regarding programmes for entertainment, accommodation, play and picnic areas, child-minding, and equipment rental services, etc. In addition, the holiday resorts must offer at least three additional family specialities and sign an undertaking to continue improving the range that they offer.

The vacation destinations are inspected by a mystery person by oder of the Quality Committee. The "Families Welcome" label is awarded by the STF for a period of three years.
